Tim Fowler solo exhibition

A collection of new works exploring the image of a man's role within the contemporary household. These large scale paintings depict intimate family scenes, stolen moments alone and the adorable bond between the artist's twin daughters.

Throughout this project,  funded by Arts Council England, Tim has developed a more liberated style of painting, creating deconstructed images by utilizing abstract marks and his signature colour palette to express candid family moments to subvert ideas of a males role within a contemporary household - and in Tim’s case, a female dominated home.

Tim explains, “Since becoming a father, the twins have obviously taken centre stage, and the dynamic between them has always fascinated me. Though they are two individuals and have their own little quirks, they are also always together and almost make up one entity. Capturing that distinct relationship between the two of them has been central to this project.”

Tim Fowler painting works for his 'Alpha Male' exhibition

The title ALPHA male is a purposeful one. A seemingly negative label conjuring images of toxic masculinity is used ironically to poke fun at those outdated ideas of what it means to be male and what roles men are expected to play. It intends to challenge people’s preconceptions of what an alpha male is and does. The work within the exhibition contrasts with those archaic prejudices and challenges attitudes, showing vulnerabilities; frankness and humour, taking a satirical look at manliness and fatherhood.

Tim has been a practicing artist for over 12 years, having exhibited around the world in New York, Ibiza, Munich and London.

Tim lives and works in Leicester and is hugely excited to be showing this brand new body of work in Leicester first. With solo exhibitions in London and featuring in several high-end art fairs Tim has been attracting attention from galleries, collectors and collaborators alike.

Tim will also be painting live within the gallery on the 13/14th July.
